Whereas, the League of Women Voters of the Los Altos-Mountain View Area supports:
“Revision of general plans on a regularly scheduled basis (with)…early citizen input and public review…” and
Whereas, the League of Women Voters of California supports:
“General plans …as a basis for zoning and other planning decisions at the local level
(and)…planning by local government for the preservation of open space and provision for adequate parks
and recreation,” and
Whereas, the League of Women Voters of California supports:
“involvement of citizens in land use planning and regulation in the earliest
planning and regulatory stages and throughout the process adequate funding of the public information process,
and development of mechanisms to minimize conflict of interest on the part of persons who make
land use decisions,” and
Whereas, the citizens of Los Altos Hills have put forward an open space and public recreation
initiative to preserve 157 acres of Town-owned open space and public recreation lands by (a)
requiring a vote of the residents to change land use designations on these properties and (b)
requiring a vote of the residents to sell any of these open space and public recreation lands,
Therefore, the League of Women Voters of the Los Altos-Mountain View Area endorses the
Citizens’ Los Altos Hills Open Space and Public Recreation Initiative.
